THE ABRAHAM MARTIN CRIMINAL JUSTICE SCHOLARSHIP
Preparing the Next Generation to Serve, Protect, and Lead

The Abraham Martin Criminal Justice Scholarship was established to support students pursuing an education and career in criminal justice, law enforcement, public safety, corrections, homeland security, emergency management, or a related field.
The scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate a commitment to education, leadership, discipline, community responsibility, and service.
Eligible Fields of Study
Applicants may be pursuing a certificate, associate, bachelor’s, or other qualifying postsecondary program in areas including:
- Criminal Justice
- Law Enforcement
- Public Safety
- Corrections
- Homeland Security
- Emergency Management
- Criminology
- Forensic Studies
- Security Administration
- Other closely related fields
Who May Apply
Applicants should:
- Be enrolled in or accepted to an accredited college, university, community college, technical school, or approved educational program.
- Be pursuing a qualifying criminal justice or public safety-related field.
- Demonstrate a commitment to completing their education.
- Demonstrate leadership, perseverance, community involvement, service, or other qualities consistent with the mission of the scholarship.
Scholarship Preferences
When evaluating otherwise qualified applicants, additional consideration may be given to:
- Students attending Norfolk State University.
- Current or former student-athletes, including students who have participated in football.
- Students demonstrating financial need.
- Students with a demonstrated interest in public service or community leadership.
These preferences are factors that may be considered during the selection process and do not guarantee an award.
